- 00:00:00 hello and welcome to this video creating
- 00:00:04 a video tutorial is awesome but it also
- 00:00:07 requires some crucial steps to make well
- 00:00:09 the video as good as possible of course
- 00:00:12 there is the knowledge of the subject
- 00:00:14 and the video preparation then you also
- 00:00:16 have to record your video that's clear
- 00:00:18 but after that you are not done because
- 00:00:21 you only got the raw footage on your
- 00:00:24 computer and you want to present to your
- 00:00:26 audience the best possible result
- 00:00:29 therefore you need to cut and edit your
- 00:00:32 videos and in this video we will take a
- 00:00:34 look at this cutting and editing process
- 00:00:37 basically I will show you how we cut and
- 00:00:41 edit our videos so the basic steps
- 00:00:43 required to make sure that you get the
- 00:00:45 best possible video experience let's
- 00:00:48 start with that right now
- 00:00:54 so which software do we use to cut the
- 00:00:57 videos well we use Adobe's Creative
- 00:01:00 Cloud now there are lots of other
- 00:01:03 alternatives available on the market
- 00:01:05 also free alternatives because well the
- 00:01:08 Creative Cloud is not for free however
- 00:01:10 we started with the Creative Cloud
- 00:01:12 initially and we are still happy with it
- 00:01:15 and that's the reason why we still use
- 00:01:17 it and why this tutorial or this video
- 00:01:19 will also be based on the Creative Cloud
- 00:01:22 however the Creative Cloud depending on
- 00:01:25 the package that you purchase comes with
- 00:01:27 a lot of different apps or tools
- 00:01:30 included now let's have a look at which
- 00:01:33 tools we actually use in our video
- 00:01:35 editing process because once you
- 00:01:38 purchased and downloaded the Creative
- 00:01:40 Cloud as I said depending on a package
- 00:01:42 that you purchased you have all the apps
- 00:01:44 available right here which are a lot of
- 00:01:46 awesome apps but we don't need all of
- 00:01:48 them if you look at the installed apps
- 00:01:50 right here well then you can see that we
- 00:01:52 don't use that many apps actually for
- 00:01:56 our video editing process we actually
- 00:01:58 only use audition right here that's a
- 00:02:01 tool that we use to record the audio so
- 00:02:03 what I'm doing right now actually and to
- 00:02:05 edit the audio this means to change the
- 00:02:08 volume for example then we use Premiere
- 00:02:11 Pro this is our main cutting and editing
- 00:02:14 tool so we used it to cut all the
- 00:02:16 different video clips correctly
- 00:02:18 something we will do throughout this
- 00:02:20 video then we use After Effects well as
- 00:02:23 the name says this is used to apply some
- 00:02:26 effects to our videos in this video we
- 00:02:29 will use After Effects to get rid of the
- 00:02:31 green screen so the green screen behind
- 00:02:33 me which you cannot see right now
- 00:02:35 because it's already cleaned but you
- 00:02:37 will learn how we did that and the last
- 00:02:39 two we use is the media encoder this
- 00:02:42 will start automatically and it just
- 00:02:45 helps us to well kind of cue the
- 00:02:47 different videos we have because if you
- 00:02:50 create a course with a module having
- 00:02:52 like 30 different videos then you want
- 00:02:54 to make sure that you render the videos
- 00:02:56 in the correct order or in the order
- 00:02:58 that you want you have however these are
- 00:03:01 the tools we will use so audition for
- 00:03:03 the audio Premiere Pro for the editing
- 00:03:06 and After Effects for
- 00:03:08 effects so let's leave the creative
- 00:03:10 cloud now and let's have a look at the
- 00:03:12 files that we actually need to well edit
- 00:03:15 our video because as you can imagine I
- 00:03:18 prepared some files for you to show you
- 00:03:20 how to edit the video and these files
- 00:03:22 can be seen right here the first file is
- 00:03:25 the video file this mp4 this is
- 00:03:28 basically well my face which you see in
- 00:03:30 the video right now then we have this
- 00:03:32 screen file right here this is basically
- 00:03:34 the recording of the screen so what you
- 00:03:36 can see behind me now and then we have
- 00:03:38 these two audio files the waffle and the
- 00:03:42 PKF now where do these files come from
- 00:03:45 well the mp4 file comes from the
- 00:03:47 camcorder I talked about that in another
- 00:03:50 video you can find a link to that video
- 00:03:51 up here right now the same thing is true
- 00:03:54 for this screen right here we use the
- 00:03:56 tool ScreenFlow to record our screen so
- 00:03:59 also check out the other video I just
- 00:04:00 mentioned to see how this works but what
- 00:04:04 about these two files so the two audio
- 00:04:06 files the swath and the PAF well both
- 00:04:09 files are created in audition as I said
- 00:04:12 before audition is the tool that we use
- 00:04:14 to record our audio so the wall file is
- 00:04:17 the audio file and the PKF file is the
- 00:04:19 file that is required by audition there
- 00:04:21 for audition creates it now talking
- 00:04:24 about audition how does it actually work
- 00:04:26 how does the audio recording Berg well
- 00:04:28 let's have a look so I put the program
- 00:04:31 start here on the desktop so we can
- 00:04:33 simply open additional and that's the
- 00:04:36 first thing you see when you open
- 00:04:38 audition and it's actually quite easy to
- 00:04:41 use there is just one important thing
- 00:04:44 that you have to keep in mind before you
- 00:04:46 start recording go to edit right here
- 00:04:49 now go to preferences and now check the
- 00:04:53 audio Hardware that's really important
- 00:04:55 because if you click onto that then you
- 00:04:57 see that as default input and now got
- 00:05:00 the microphone which is not working
- 00:05:02 because I'm not recording on this
- 00:05:04 computer right now however if you record
- 00:05:06 always make sure that the microphone is
- 00:05:09 selected correctly right here otherwise
- 00:05:12 you might record your audio from the
- 00:05:14 laptop for example or from the
- 00:05:15 integrated laptop microphone and the
- 00:05:17 quality is not good normally however you
- 00:05:21 can also define
- 00:05:22 the default output which in my case is
- 00:05:24 the in my case are the integrated
- 00:05:27 speakers in my screen and with that you
- 00:05:30 can press ok right here now how do you
- 00:05:33 start such a recording now well you
- 00:05:35 simply go to file right here go to new
- 00:05:37 and select the audio file now you can
- 00:05:40 give it a name as you want let's name it
- 00:05:42 test now we always set the sample rate
- 00:05:45 to 48,000 Hertz that's just what we
- 00:05:48 tried out and what turned out to be a
- 00:05:50 good quality and the channel is mono of
- 00:05:52 course because well we only have two
- 00:05:54 microphone and the bit depth is 32 these
- 00:05:58 are the settings that we use I will
- 00:06:00 press cancel now because well I don't
- 00:06:02 have any microphone plugged in now right
- 00:06:04 here and if you then press record down
- 00:06:06 here then the recording would start
- 00:06:08 after you finish the recording you can
- 00:06:10 just press stop right here and then save
- 00:06:13 the file and with that you got the audio
- 00:06:15 file created the way we did it right
- 00:06:17 here so that's the creation of the audio
- 00:06:20 file but how do we edit it in audition
- 00:06:22 now well what we normally do is we
- 00:06:24 simply drag it to left maybe we simply
- 00:06:27 take the wah file and drag and drop it
- 00:06:30 right here into the center screen like
- 00:06:32 that let's maximize that again so what
- 00:06:34 we see right here is basically the audio
- 00:06:36 recording that we have we will listen to
- 00:06:38 that later and the first thing we always
- 00:06:40 do is we choose a part of the audio file
- 00:06:44 which is actually quiet here for example
- 00:06:47 so you don't see any noise in here but
- 00:06:50 it might be the case that you have some
- 00:06:52 kind of well really slight background
- 00:06:54 noise in here and this is the noise that
- 00:06:56 you want to eliminate because you want
- 00:06:58 to make sure that your audio is as clean
- 00:07:00 and as crisp as possible so for the
- 00:07:03 purpose you simply select a part in the
- 00:07:05 video which appears to be silent
- 00:07:07 actually right here for example and now
- 00:07:09 you go to effects appear and now you go
- 00:07:12 to noise reduction and select capture
- 00:07:14 noise print like that now you can scroll
- 00:07:18 out again or zoom out again and now
- 00:07:20 press ctrl-a to select the entire audio
- 00:07:24 file or you enter audio clip actually
- 00:07:26 and now you go back to effects once
- 00:07:28 again go to noise reduction restoration
- 00:07:31 and now select noise reduction process
- 00:07:34 right here
- 00:07:36 and what will happen now is that
- 00:07:37 audition will try to eliminate this
- 00:07:40 noise that you previously identified
- 00:07:42 with that capture noise print function
- 00:07:45 now you can play around with the
- 00:07:47 different settings of the noise
- 00:07:48 reduction down here we will not talk
- 00:07:50 about that in detail in this video but
- 00:07:52 normally the basic settings should be
- 00:07:54 quite good so if you now press apply
- 00:07:57 right here then you see that the noise
- 00:07:59 reduction is applied and then if you had
- 00:08:01 some background noise it should be
- 00:08:03 eliminated now so this really improves
- 00:08:05 your audio quality so that's the first
- 00:08:08 step that we do the second step that we
- 00:08:11 apply is that we change to volume
- 00:08:13 actually because normally it's too quiet
- 00:08:15 so the pure recording is too quiet so
- 00:08:18 what you can do is you can simply press
- 00:08:20 and hold the left mouse button right
- 00:08:22 here in this area and then well increase
- 00:08:25 the volume we always try to be within
- 00:08:27 -12 + – 6 let's do it like this maybe
- 00:08:30 and you can see the decibel right here
- 00:08:32 so we try to be within that range of
- 00:08:35 course we have some Peaks but that's
- 00:08:37 normally not a problem as soon as you're
- 00:08:40 done with your work in audition then so
- 00:08:41 the noise canceling and the increase of
- 00:08:44 the volume you can simply save that and
- 00:08:46 well now it's time to start the actual
- 00:08:49 video editing and for that purpose we
- 00:08:52 need the video editing app and as I said
- 00:08:55 before this is Premiere Pro in our case
- 00:08:58 so let's switch to Premiere Pro now so
- 00:09:01 this is Premiere Pro over here and as
- 00:09:04 you can see right there I already
- 00:09:06 prepared two files this is just an MTU
- 00:09:09 primary profile and this is an empty
- 00:09:11 after effects file so this program right
- 00:09:14 here we will need After Effects as I
- 00:09:16 said to eliminate the green-screen later
- 00:09:18 but for the purpose we need both files
- 00:09:21 to be created so let's open the Premiere
- 00:09:23 Pro file first right here
- 00:09:26 so now we are in Premiere Pro and before
- 00:09:29 we continue let me make one important
- 00:09:31 note we are no professional video
- 00:09:34 editors so we learned all that on our
- 00:09:37 own with the goal to edit our video
- 00:09:39 tutorials as good as possible so in case
- 00:09:43 you find anything that might not be best
- 00:09:45 practice feel free to leave us a comment
- 00:09:47 below the video because we're always
- 00:09:49 happy to get some nice advice from
- 00:09:52 people who might have more experience
- 00:09:54 regarding video editing however all the
- 00:09:56 things are shown right here
- 00:09:57 generally work of course because
- 00:09:58 otherwise we couldn't cut our videos so
- 00:10:00 if you followed this guidance your video
- 00:10:02 should be quite ok actually in the end
- 00:10:04 so having said that here we are in
- 00:10:07 Premiere Pro and the important thing
- 00:10:09 right here is that you have different
- 00:10:11 workspaces you can also see the
- 00:10:13 different workspaces up here so assembly
- 00:10:15 editing color and so on
- 00:10:17 and if you go to window right there and
- 00:10:19 two workspaces you can also select them
- 00:10:21 right here as I said I'm now in the
- 00:10:23 assembly workspace and actually I will
- 00:10:26 only work in the assembly and editing
- 00:10:29 workspace in this video however let's
- 00:10:32 maybe drag that to the left a little bit
- 00:10:34 like this and now go back to our source
- 00:10:38 folder right here because here we have
- 00:10:40 two files so I will now select the mp4
- 00:10:43 file so the phase the audio file and the
- 00:10:48 screen right here and now we can simply
- 00:10:51 drag that over here into this area you
- 00:10:54 can see import media to start like that
- 00:10:56 and now maximize Premiere Pro again and
- 00:11:02 now you see that we have these free
- 00:11:04 files in here this is nice you can also
- 00:11:06 see that we recorded the phase with 50
- 00:11:09 frames and the screen with 25 frames per
- 00:11:12 second for the final video we want to
- 00:11:14 have 25 frames and an easy way how to
- 00:11:17 achieve that now is to well create a new
- 00:11:20 so-called sequence you will see that in
- 00:11:22 a few seconds by double-clicking onto
- 00:11:24 the screen and now you see the screen
- 00:11:27 appearing right here that's interesting
- 00:11:29 but what is more interesting is that
- 00:11:31 down here you have two symbol and it
- 00:11:34 says it actually you can drag the video
- 00:11:36 only or the audio only well as
- 00:11:40 we record the audio separately we don't
- 00:11:43 need the audio from our screen of course
- 00:11:44 we only need the screen and therefore I
- 00:11:47 simply take the screen right here and
- 00:11:49 drag it down here as it says to create a
- 00:11:52 new sequence like that well and as you
- 00:11:56 can see we now have that new sequence
- 00:11:58 created with the example screen in there
- 00:12:01 and if I now move the mouse you can see
- 00:12:04 that it goes through the sequence like
- 00:12:07 that well with that we got our first
- 00:12:09 clip in here
- 00:12:10 let's now also add the face so I'm
- 00:12:12 simply clicking it and now I'm gonna
- 00:12:14 drag it over here but I will drag it
- 00:12:16 down there directly into the sequence
- 00:12:18 and as you can see Premera
- 00:12:21 automatically creates the two different
- 00:12:23 clips so we got regular here we got the
- 00:12:27 video appear the example mp4 and the
- 00:12:30 corresponding audio down there let's
- 00:12:33 maybe increase the size a little bit so
- 00:12:35 that you can see it better like that and
- 00:12:37 up there you can also see my face so you
- 00:12:39 now see my face right here and right
- 00:12:41 there well I think you have to deal with
- 00:12:42 that for the moment however we now have
- 00:12:45 this file down here and with that there
- 00:12:48 is only one last thing missing and
- 00:12:50 that's our audio file we got it right
- 00:12:52 here and I will simply drag it again and
- 00:12:54 put it right there with that we got all
- 00:12:58 our clips in our sequence so let's maybe
- 00:13:01 change it oops right here as you can see
- 00:13:04 you can arrange that workspace just the
- 00:13:07 way you prefer so I will put it over
- 00:13:09 here and well how does this work now how
- 00:13:12 do we continue because now it's
- 00:13:13 basically in here but well that's not
- 00:13:16 the way it should be in the end because
- 00:13:17 if i zoom in so I'm pressing alt and now
- 00:13:21 I use the mouse wheel to zoom in like
- 00:13:25 that scroll to the left well then you
- 00:13:28 can see that the audio here is not
- 00:13:30 synchronized zoom out a little bit
- 00:13:32 because you can see these two peaks
- 00:13:34 right here what are these Peaks well
- 00:13:37 these two peaks are two claps like that
- 00:13:39 because what we normally do is we start
- 00:13:42 our audio recording then we start the
- 00:13:44 camcorder so this one right here and
- 00:13:46 then we clap two times because this
- 00:13:49 allows us to synchronize the audio of
- 00:13:51 the integrated camcorder
- 00:13:54 microphone and the audio of this
- 00:13:56 microphone right here because we will
- 00:13:58 get rid of the audio of the camcorder as
- 00:14:00 soon as we finish that synchronization
- 00:14:02 process because this has a way better
- 00:14:04 audio quality however how do we do this
- 00:14:07 synchronizing process then well the
- 00:14:09 first thing I do is now I click onto the
- 00:14:11 audio clip so the green one is the audio
- 00:14:13 clip from the microphone and if I now go
- 00:14:16 to left you can see that this symbol
- 00:14:18 appears and if I now click right here I
- 00:14:21 can simply decrease the size of that
- 00:14:25 clip and now I can drag it so I'm simply
- 00:14:28 doing it with the mouse right here but
- 00:14:31 that's not correct so let's zoom in a
- 00:14:33 little bit and let's now put it right
- 00:14:37 here let's zoom it further still not
- 00:14:40 working so we should go a frame to the
- 00:14:42 right how can we do that well we can
- 00:14:44 simply use the left arrow key and the
- 00:14:46 right arrow key on the keyboard to
- 00:14:48 navigate between the frames and as you
- 00:14:50 can see up here this goes through it
- 00:14:52 frame by frame if you hold shift and the
- 00:14:55 arrow keys this goes five frames to the
- 00:14:57 left and five frames to the right now
- 00:15:00 I'm talking about these shortcuts
- 00:15:01 already how does this work and how do I
- 00:15:04 know these shortcuts well of course you
- 00:15:06 can google them but another really good
- 00:15:08 alternative is if you go to edit right
- 00:15:12 here and now go to the keyboard
- 00:15:15 shortcuts down there if you click onto
- 00:15:17 that you can see all the different
- 00:15:19 keyboard commands that you have and even
- 00:15:21 better
- 00:15:22 down here you can overview of all the
- 00:15:24 different shortcuts and commands that
- 00:15:27 you have and in addition to that you can
- 00:15:29 also click right here to search for a
- 00:15:31 specific shortcut for example now what I
- 00:15:33 will use in a few seconds is ctrl + B
- 00:15:37 and as you can see with this shortcut I
- 00:15:40 will basically add an edit which means I
- 00:15:42 will set a cut basically so that's
- 00:15:45 important because at the moment I am
- 00:15:46 working on a Windows PC so if you're
- 00:15:49 using Premiere Pro on a Mac this can be
- 00:15:51 slightly different but with this
- 00:15:53 keyboard shortcuts it should always be
- 00:15:55 easy to find the right command on the
- 00:15:57 keyboard that you need however let's go
- 00:15:59 back to our sequence now by pressing
- 00:16:01 cancel down here so we set this marker
- 00:16:04 and that's the important thing right
- 00:16:05 here that we moved before to the left
- 00:16:07 and now to the right and we are exactly
- 00:16:10 at the beginning of the clap in the
- 00:16:12 microphone of the camcorder now we see
- 00:16:15 that it's not equal so I selected that
- 00:16:17 microphone clip and if I now press alt
- 00:16:19 and now the right arrow key you can see
- 00:16:23 that I can again move the clip
- 00:16:25 frame-by-frame but now I'm not moving
- 00:16:28 that marker up here see now without alt
- 00:16:31 and moving the marker and right here I'm
- 00:16:34 only moving the clip now this doesn't
- 00:16:36 work perfectly but let's maybe align it
- 00:16:39 like that and if we now play it yes this
- 00:16:43 sounds quite correct so with that we did
- 00:16:46 our first step we now aligned the audio
- 00:16:48 this means we can get rid of that audio
- 00:16:51 off the camcorder so I'm simply
- 00:16:52 selecting it and I'm pressing delete on
- 00:16:54 a keyboard with that it's gone but there
- 00:16:57 is one more thing that we have to
- 00:16:58 synchronize and that's the screen
- 00:17:00 because the screen does not start right
- 00:17:03 here when the recording of the camcorder
- 00:17:05 starts we do that with a second well
- 00:17:07 trick and this trick is if you go to
- 00:17:10 right here you see I'm saying action you
- 00:17:16 could say anything you want of course
- 00:17:17 but we use action so we will again set
- 00:17:21 this marker and not selected right here
- 00:17:23 to this position when I say action now
- 00:17:27 I'll zoom out again so with old and the
- 00:17:30 mouse wheel and now I place the screen
- 00:17:32 exactly right here so if you let it play
- 00:17:35 again then the screen starts problem is
- 00:17:39 however that you cannot see the screen
- 00:17:41 at the moment right because the only
- 00:17:43 thing you see is basically well again
- 00:17:45 myself and this is maybe not the only
- 00:17:47 thing that you want to see in such a
- 00:17:48 video so the third step before we can
- 00:17:51 start the actual cutting is to decrease
- 00:17:53 the size of that clip because it should
- 00:17:56 only be in the lower right part of the
- 00:17:58 screen so but I'm sitting right now to
- 00:18:00 do that we will now change the workspace
- 00:18:02 and leave the assembly workspace and go
- 00:18:05 to editing right here now as you can see
- 00:18:07 the workspace looks kind of different
- 00:18:10 now this big assembly part right here is
- 00:18:13 gone therefore we have now the effect
- 00:18:15 controls right there and if I now select
- 00:18:18 that clip up here so the clip of myself
- 00:18:21 on it
- 00:18:21 then you can see that you can change
- 00:18:23 lots of different things up here and the
- 00:18:26 thing that we have to change right here
- 00:18:28 is the position and the scale the scale
- 00:18:31 we normally use is 33.3 percent so like
- 00:18:36 that and as you can see now I'm smaller
- 00:18:39 but kind of in the middle of the screen
- 00:18:41 this means we need to position myself
- 00:18:44 differently and as you can see right
- 00:18:46 here I'm always sitting in the right
- 00:18:47 lower part of the screen and the right
- 00:18:50 position for that is one oops one six
- 00:18:53 zero one like that and nine zero one
- 00:18:56 like that and now you see suddenly I'm
- 00:19:01 sitting down here in the right lower
- 00:19:03 corner of the screen which is nice
- 00:19:05 however there is still this green screen
- 00:19:07 around me but we will come back to that
- 00:19:09 in a few minutes when we talk about
- 00:19:11 After Effects so before we continue let
- 00:19:14 me maybe increase the size right here I
- 00:19:17 hope you can see everything but I think
- 00:19:18 it should be fine basically I can also
- 00:19:20 change that a little bit again as you
- 00:19:22 can see you can arrange the workspace
- 00:19:24 just as you want you however we got the
- 00:19:27 basic set we got the right format up
- 00:19:29 here and we synchronize the audio and
- 00:19:32 the screen with our actual recording so
- 00:19:36 let's now start with the cutting process
- 00:19:38 and the cutting starts actually at the
- 00:19:42 beginning so let's see here looking into
- 00:19:44 the camera and let's try it out now so
- 00:19:48 this is our small example video so
- 00:19:51 that's a start so let's maybe zoom in
- 00:19:54 again as I said I'm pressing alt and the
- 00:19:57 mouse wheel now I can again press the
- 00:19:59 right key
- 00:20:00 on the right arrow key on the keyboard
- 00:20:02 and now I want to set a cut right here
- 00:20:04 so how do I set this cut now at this
- 00:20:07 position well actually before that if
- 00:20:09 you go to edit and keyboard shortcuts
- 00:20:11 that if I type ctrl + B that this will
- 00:20:16 add an edit right here the important
- 00:20:18 finger is that if you double click right
- 00:20:20 there and now press B for example you
- 00:20:24 now see that B would also do the same
- 00:20:27 thing so that's also important you can
- 00:20:29 manually change the shortcuts with the
- 00:20:32 corresponding functions though just the
- 00:20:34 way you prefer
- 00:20:35 to work now in my case I will get rid of
- 00:20:37 that B and keep control B as the
- 00:20:40 shortcut but that's again important if
- 00:20:42 you're cutting on your own just find out
- 00:20:44 the right functions you need and define
- 00:20:46 the shortcuts as you want you however we
- 00:20:49 will use control B to cut that so let's
- 00:20:51 press cancel and if I now select the
- 00:20:53 first clip and press control B then you
- 00:20:56 see that I set the cut in this first
- 00:20:58 clip however that's not good because we
- 00:21:01 want to cut all hips of course otherwise
- 00:21:03 the video wouldn't make any sense after
- 00:21:05 that so let's press control Z and now
- 00:21:08 select all three clips at the same time
- 00:21:10 if I now press control B well then we
- 00:21:13 got the cut set perfectly perfectly yes
- 00:21:17 but if I now press delete right here
- 00:21:20 well then the clip a zoom out is gone
- 00:21:23 which is nice but the starting point
- 00:21:26 should be zero actually
- 00:21:27 so we should get rid of that distance
- 00:21:29 right here and we can do that by
- 00:21:32 pressing shift and delete like that
- 00:21:34 hmm shift and delete what was that
- 00:21:37 actually because as I said these
- 00:21:39 commands might be different at your
- 00:21:41 computer so if we go to edit once again
- 00:21:44 keyboard shortcuts and type shift +
- 00:21:48 delete then you can see that this was
- 00:21:51 the ripple delete that I applied also a
- 00:21:54 really important function that we use
- 00:21:55 quite often in our videos so let's press
- 00:21:58 cancel and well the ripple delete worked
- 00:22:01 quite well but let me undo that once and
- 00:22:03 twice and now we select all the clips
- 00:22:06 that we want relate and now press shift
- 00:22:08 and delete so ripple delete once again
- 00:22:11 because now you can see that we now
- 00:22:13 start at zero with just one keyboard
- 00:22:15 command which is quite nice actually
- 00:22:17 so with that let's now continue and
- 00:22:20 listen to this clip as I said it's just
- 00:22:22 30 seconds so it won't take very long so
- 00:22:25 let's go to the beginning and start
- 00:22:27 again so this is our small example video
- 00:22:31 that we will use to see how we can cut
- 00:22:33 our
- 00:22:35 have to stop right here shortly you can
- 00:22:37 also see right here that the D stable
- 00:22:39 level is kind of between minus 12 and
- 00:22:41 minus 6 this is the thing that I told
- 00:22:43 you when we worked on the file in
- 00:22:45 addition so let's continue right now
- 00:22:47 videos now let's assume now let's assume
- 00:22:51 that I mean now lets us and here you can
- 00:22:55 see that I made a mistake so this means
- 00:22:57 we need to cut out this part right here
- 00:22:59 so what I simply can do is I can click
- 00:23:02 right here to set the marker well just a
- 00:23:05 few frames before the actual mistake
- 00:23:07 happens now I select all the clips press
- 00:23:10 control B as we learned before and now
- 00:23:13 simply go right there
- 00:23:15 and now again select all the clips again
- 00:23:19 set a cut and now use the ripple delete
- 00:23:22 so in my case shift and delete to get
- 00:23:24 rid of these two wrong sentences like
- 00:23:27 that woman let's see how it looks like
- 00:23:30 our videos now let's assume that I made
- 00:23:33 a mistake right here that this looks
- 00:23:35 fine so now we made our first cut let's
- 00:23:38 continue and see if there is anything
- 00:23:39 else that we have to change right here
- 00:23:41 but we have to cut out and after this
- 00:23:43 first mistake and after this first
- 00:23:46 mistake we now have the second mistake
- 00:23:48 that's the second mistake so we follow
- 00:23:51 the same pattern we simply go right here
- 00:23:53 and set the cut and now go to the
- 00:23:56 beginning where it started right here
- 00:23:58 and set the second cut now select the
- 00:24:00 free clips that you want to delete and
- 00:24:01 use the ripple delete again to get rid
- 00:24:04 of that part let's see if it looks good
- 00:24:05 but we have to cut out and after this
- 00:24:08 first mistake we now have the second
- 00:24:10 mistake that's fine actually so let's
- 00:24:13 see if there is anything else that we
- 00:24:14 should cut in here and with that we now
- 00:24:17 edit it or cut our video and we can now
- 00:24:19 continue with our basics in video
- 00:24:22 editing bye
- 00:24:23 and with that bye we can now stop the
- 00:24:27 video and again select all three clips
- 00:24:29 as you can see the markers set right
- 00:24:31 here add a cut select the freelance
- 00:24:34 clips and simply delete them and if we
- 00:24:37 now zoom out a little bit again old and
- 00:24:40 the mouse wheel then you can see that
- 00:24:42 this is now our entire clip actually and
- 00:24:45 as you can imagine in a longer video
- 00:24:47 there are a lot more fing
- 00:24:48 to cut and so on but that's just the
- 00:24:50 basic process that you need to
- 00:24:52 understand to be able to cut your videos
- 00:24:54 however we are not done yet because well
- 00:24:58 if you look right here well you can see
- 00:25:01 that this green screen is still in that
- 00:25:04 screen and that doesn't look good
- 00:25:05 because if you look around me well then
- 00:25:07 there is not any kind of green screen
- 00:25:09 visible so how do we get rid of this
- 00:25:12 green screen now well the good thing is
- 00:25:14 that this is quite easy actually the
- 00:25:17 only thing we should do first is we
- 00:25:18 should start after-effects
- 00:25:20 let's do that quickly by simply dragging
- 00:25:23 this to the left again and going back to
- 00:25:26 previous folder and now start this after
- 00:25:28 effects file I created as I said before
- 00:25:30 this is just an empty after effects file
- 00:25:33 there is nothing in it so let's do that
- 00:25:35 and now we are in after-effects now if
- 00:25:39 you go to window and workspace you can
- 00:25:41 see that we are in this standard
- 00:25:43 workspace in here just in case this
- 00:25:45 looks different on your computer so how
- 00:25:48 do we now get the connection between
- 00:25:49 these two files because as I said I
- 00:25:51 would like to get rid of the green
- 00:25:53 screen using After Effects now let's
- 00:25:56 switch back to Premiere Pro here it is
- 00:25:59 let's maximize it and what we now do is
- 00:26:02 we will just select this tool right here
- 00:26:04 the track select forward tool and I know
- 00:26:08 this one we just press and hold the left
- 00:26:10 mouse button and now you see that the
- 00:26:12 arrow indicates the direction you want
- 00:26:14 to select it from so we will use the
- 00:26:16 second one and if we now click right
- 00:26:18 here so after our Clips then you see we
- 00:26:22 select everything this is not good
- 00:26:24 because we only want to select our first
- 00:26:26 clip so let me go back to the selection
- 00:26:28 tool right here again that's what we
- 00:26:30 always used normally and we only want to
- 00:26:32 select this first clip because that's
- 00:26:34 the clip with the face so let's again
- 00:26:37 select the track forward tool and if I
- 00:26:40 now press shift right here then you see
- 00:26:41 that we only have one arrow and if I now
- 00:26:43 click right here then you see that we
- 00:26:46 selected only the first clip and by that
- 00:26:49 only the clip with the face and the
- 00:26:51 green screen behind me so if we now
- 00:26:53 right-click on to that clip and now
- 00:26:56 select up here replace with After
- 00:26:58 Effects composition then either
- 00:27:01 and you after effects file will be
- 00:27:02 opened but as we opened an after effects
- 00:27:05 file already it will just work kind of
- 00:27:08 import that into this after effects file
- 00:27:10 and that's exactly what we want to do so
- 00:27:13 let's press replace with After Effects
- 00:27:15 composition and here you can see my face
- 00:27:18 again and now we have a new composition
- 00:27:21 you saw we talked about sequences in
- 00:27:23 Premiere Pro and we talked about
- 00:27:25 compositions in After Effects and in
- 00:27:29 this composition I can now again
- 00:27:31 navigate through it frame by frame and
- 00:27:33 as you can see my face is always there
- 00:27:36 and so is the green-screen
- 00:27:38 now how do we get rid of this green
- 00:27:41 screen now well for that purpose we need
- 00:27:44 an effect and the effects can be found
- 00:27:46 right here the effect that we use is
- 00:27:49 called key light key light one two
- 00:27:52 actually and this is this effect so if
- 00:27:55 we simply select that effect and drag it
- 00:27:58 to the first clip right here in the
- 00:28:01 sequence in the composition scene
- 00:28:02 compositions in After Effects then you
- 00:28:04 can see that this effect is now here if
- 00:28:07 you click onto that arrow and open
- 00:28:09 effects and you can see key light and
- 00:28:12 here you can adjust it that's one option
- 00:28:14 but we will not use that right here but
- 00:28:16 you also have the effect controls appear
- 00:28:17 and that's the important part
- 00:28:20 that we will use because we will now
- 00:28:22 select a color that should be eliminated
- 00:28:25 by clicking right here and now simply
- 00:28:29 search for a good spot this should be
- 00:28:31 kind of an average screen color that you
- 00:28:33 have so not the brightest one not the
- 00:28:35 darkest one so let's really click right
- 00:28:38 here and as you can see the screen is
- 00:28:41 already gone but let's zoom in again I'm
- 00:28:44 using the mouse wheel and now we can
- 00:28:47 select the hand tool right here and go
- 00:28:50 down and now go back to the selection
- 00:28:52 tool like this and well is this perfect
- 00:28:56 already we are normally not sure and
- 00:28:59 therefore we should change from final
- 00:29:01 result up here to screen mate but I
- 00:29:05 don't know how it's pronounced to be
- 00:29:06 honest let's call it mate I don't know
- 00:29:09 like that and as you can see it's not
- 00:29:12 perfect because we still have these
- 00:29:14 white spots in here and we don't want it
- 00:29:17 so the whole green screen or the former
- 00:29:19 green screen should be black actually in
- 00:29:22 this screen made much of you whatever so
- 00:29:26 how can we change that well we can
- 00:29:28 simply go to screen mate again this word
- 00:29:31 and now we can play around with clip
- 00:29:33 black and clip white so we can for
- 00:29:36 example choose clip black right here
- 00:29:38 with 50 as you can see looks a lot
- 00:29:42 better now but I'm not really white the
- 00:29:46 background should be black and the
- 00:29:48 person you want to display should be
- 00:29:50 white in this view so to change that we
- 00:29:53 have to reduce clip white right here so
- 00:29:55 we can press 7 here for example like
- 00:29:57 this and now it looks quite good
- 00:30:01 actually
- 00:30:02 as you can imagine these values are not
- 00:30:04 guessed by myself we use these values in
- 00:30:07 our videos so the important thing is
- 00:30:09 that you just know that you can change
- 00:30:11 the settings right here but that you
- 00:30:13 have to play around with these settings
- 00:30:14 on your own if you want to clean your
- 00:30:17 green screen that you have behind
- 00:30:18 yourself because it always depends on
- 00:30:20 the green screen and on the lighting and
- 00:30:22 generally their conditions you have in
- 00:30:24 your room but in our case this works
- 00:30:26 quite fine if we do it like this another
- 00:30:29 thing we normally adjust is the screen
- 00:30:30 softness we use 0.6 right here and the
- 00:30:34 screen despot wide down there we set it
- 00:30:37 to 2 again these are settings we use
- 00:30:40 feel free to play around with them
- 00:30:41 however if we now select the marker and
- 00:30:44 press space then we see it's kind of
- 00:30:49 working it looks good actually so let's
- 00:30:51 change it up here back to final result
- 00:30:54 like that and start in the beginning
- 00:30:57 maybe let's have a look yes it looks
- 00:31:00 fine but there is one more thing that
- 00:31:02 you can do to make sure that you really
- 00:31:04 eliminated all the green spots of your
- 00:31:07 green screen how does this work
- 00:31:08 well you can simply go to layer up here
- 00:31:11 go to new and now select a solid layer
- 00:31:14 right there if you do that then you can
- 00:31:17 name it as you prefer that's not a
- 00:31:19 problem the important thing is that you
- 00:31:21 set the color to white down here if you
- 00:31:23 click right here you can change the
- 00:31:24 color as you want you we will keep it
- 00:31:26 white a
- 00:31:27 nice okay well then we don't see a thing
- 00:31:30 actually but if we drag it down right
- 00:31:33 here as you can see and now dragging it
- 00:31:35 to the second position this white solid
- 00:31:37 layer well then you can see that if we
- 00:31:41 play the video again yeah it looks
- 00:31:44 really good so that's kind of a second
- 00:31:46 test that you can do to really make sure
- 00:31:48 that the cleaning worked fine you can
- 00:31:50 now select the layer again and press
- 00:31:52 delete to get rid of it so that's the
- 00:31:55 cleaning now we need to apply this
- 00:31:57 effect to the remaining two Clips
- 00:32:00 because right here well the green screen
- 00:32:02 is still present so how can we do this
- 00:32:05 well of course we don't have to readjust
- 00:32:07 the effect again and again the only
- 00:32:09 thing we have to do is we have to select
- 00:32:11 the key light so the effect of that
- 00:32:13 first clip where we already eliminated
- 00:32:15 the green screen now press ctrl Z to
- 00:32:18 copy it now select both clips or all the
- 00:32:22 other clips where you want this effect
- 00:32:23 to be applied and now paste the effect
- 00:32:25 and as you can see now the green screen
- 00:32:28 is gone in the other two clips also
- 00:32:31 let's now save this and go back to
- 00:32:35 Premiere Pro to see how it worked and
- 00:32:37 let me quickly change the selection tool
- 00:32:39 right here well and as you can see this
- 00:32:42 work but we can still still to the green
- 00:32:45 screen now it works so it took quite a
- 00:32:47 few seconds to load it and with that you
- 00:32:50 can now see that the green screen is
- 00:32:51 gone and if we go to the beginning you
- 00:32:55 can also see that this looks fine right
- 00:32:56 there so with that we are now done with
- 00:32:59 After Effects of course there are a lot
- 00:33:02 of more things that you can do in After
- 00:33:03 Effects but getting rid of the green
- 00:33:05 screen is an important one if you create
- 00:33:07 video tutorials with a green screen
- 00:33:09 behind you now before we continue and
- 00:33:11 finish the last steps one important
- 00:33:14 thing if you look right here into our
- 00:33:16 project let me increase that maybe you
- 00:33:19 can see that we now have five files but
- 00:33:22 in the beginning we only had free we had
- 00:33:24 two screen we had my face and we had the
- 00:33:27 audio so why do we have five files now
- 00:33:29 well the reason is simple the first file
- 00:33:32 we added is this one this is the
- 00:33:35 sequence you can identify that by this
- 00:33:38 logo so if I rename that by clicking it
- 00:33:40 right here too
- 00:33:41 like that to seq maybe click right here
- 00:33:46 then you can see that this is the actual
- 00:33:49 sequence that we created this means that
- 00:33:51 this sequence now includes our screen
- 00:33:54 right here the first pub we had in the
- 00:33:55 beginning then my face the second file
- 00:33:58 and the audio file these free files and
- 00:34:01 the four file we have done here is the
- 00:34:03 link composition that we created in
- 00:34:05 After Effects so far we got rid of the
- 00:34:07 green screen that's just important to
- 00:34:09 know for you to see how your project
- 00:34:11 structure changes if you create new
- 00:34:13 sequences or if you work in After
- 00:34:15 Effects
- 00:34:16 however this now is almost fun there are
- 00:34:20 only two more things that I would like
- 00:34:22 to adjust and for their purpose I would
- 00:34:25 like to mute the audio first because
- 00:34:27 otherwise you would hear the audio all
- 00:34:29 the time when we have a look at the
- 00:34:30 video and this could be quite annoying
- 00:34:32 so to mute that audio channel you simply
- 00:34:35 press that M right here so we mute the
- 00:34:37 track and now if you play the video you
- 00:34:40 only can see me but you can't hear me
- 00:34:42 which is quite ok for a moment as I
- 00:34:44 think so let's go back to the beginning
- 00:34:47 of that clip let me scroll in go to left
- 00:34:50 and now go right here because you might
- 00:34:54 have seen that our videos
- 00:34:55 don't start well like that with an image
- 00:34:58 you normally have two seconds for you
- 00:35:00 just see the background and then our
- 00:35:02 faces
- 00:35:03 fade in how do we do that well we can
- 00:35:07 simply go to the beginning again like
- 00:35:08 that now select the screen so that's the
- 00:35:12 background image right here and if I now
- 00:35:14 right click onto that and press insert
- 00:35:17 frame hold segment like that then you
- 00:35:20 can see that Premiere automatically adds
- 00:35:23 two seconds you can see this right here
- 00:35:26 of the counter so that's the frame
- 00:35:28 that's the second so we have one second
- 00:35:30 and 24 frames and then the face comes in
- 00:35:33 well still that's not good so we should
- 00:35:36 also change that maybe so let's select
- 00:35:39 that composition and go to the right
- 00:35:42 again with the right arrow key on the
- 00:35:45 keyboard and now selected that and now
- 00:35:48 you can see that opacity setting right
- 00:35:50 here and that's set to 100% now if I
- 00:35:53 change to zero
- 00:35:55 press Enter then you see that my face is
- 00:35:58 gone and if you now press shift and hold
- 00:36:01 shift and press the right arrow key two
- 00:36:03 times then we learned before just
- 00:36:06 pressing the arrow key will move frame
- 00:36:08 by frame holding pressing and holding
- 00:36:10 shift and then pressing the arrow key
- 00:36:12 will move five frames each time you
- 00:36:15 press the arrow key
- 00:36:16 this means we now moved ten frames to
- 00:36:19 the right now with that we can click
- 00:36:21 right here again and press 100 and with
- 00:36:25 that my face is back now how did that
- 00:36:27 work now without talking about too much
- 00:36:30 details if you look at this area right
- 00:36:33 here and you can change it right there a
- 00:36:36 little bit yeah I think it's hard to see
- 00:36:38 but you can see it then you see that we
- 00:36:40 have these symbols right here these
- 00:36:42 symbols are keyframes so these frames
- 00:36:45 basically say at this stage I want
- 00:36:48 something to happen now at this keyframe
- 00:36:51 right here we want the opacity to be at
- 00:36:54 100% and at the first frame right here
- 00:36:57 the clip into is arrow you can see this
- 00:36:59 frame we want the opacity to have 0% and
- 00:37:02 that's why my face is now fading in step
- 00:37:07 by step because between these two
- 00:37:10 keyframes Premiere Pro automatically
- 00:37:13 increases the opacity to make sure that
- 00:37:17 when we start you're positive zero but
- 00:37:20 at the frame that we define where it
- 00:37:21 should be 100% that it is well kind of
- 00:37:24 smoothly increasing now talking about
- 00:37:27 keyframes in detail and what you can do
- 00:37:29 of them is not covered in this video
- 00:37:31 it's just important to know that concept
- 00:37:34 because it helps you a lot when you want
- 00:37:36 to edit and cut your videos however
- 00:37:38 let's have a look at the beginning now
- 00:37:40 of our video if it looks fine let's see
- 00:37:42 so we have the two seconds now it starts
- 00:37:46 so you can see a smooth transition now
- 00:37:49 that's nice but let's now go to the
- 00:37:52 ending of the video right here because
- 00:37:55 here we have the same issue the first
- 00:37:57 thing is that we want to have this two
- 00:37:59 seconds in the end with this frame hold
- 00:38:01 so what we can do is we go to the last
- 00:38:03 frame that's not correct you need to be
- 00:38:06 careful right here now
- 00:38:08 select the clip as we did right here and
- 00:38:09 now press insert frame hold segment like
- 00:38:12 that and as you can see again we added
- 00:38:16 this frame hold right there without any
- 00:38:19 change in the screen now the last thing
- 00:38:21 you have to do is of course we also have
- 00:38:23 to well kind of change the opacity
- 00:38:24 because we want the face to fade out in
- 00:38:27 the end
- 00:38:27 smoothly now to do this we can again
- 00:38:30 click right here change the opacity to
- 00:38:33 zero right there and as you can see
- 00:38:36 right here we created that keyframe
- 00:38:41 again and now press shift and press the
- 00:38:45 left arrow key two times and change it
- 00:38:48 back to 100 right here press Enter you
- 00:38:50 see the second keyframe was added and
- 00:38:52 with that we can see that the face
- 00:38:57 smoothly fades out now you can also add
- 00:39:01 these transitions with a shortcut it's
- 00:39:04 ctrl D and then it will automatically
- 00:39:06 add these transitions at the beginning
- 00:39:08 and at the end of the video but I just
- 00:39:09 wanted to make sure that you saw this
- 00:39:11 concept of the keyframes that we use in
- 00:39:14 our videos however with that we are now
- 00:39:18 actually done with our clip the only
- 00:39:21 thing we have to do right now is we only
- 00:39:22 have to export this media now well to
- 00:39:25 create a new rendered video that you
- 00:39:27 then see in the end on YouTube and to do
- 00:39:30 that you can simply select the sequence
- 00:39:32 right here you remember we named it oops
- 00:39:36 maybe squeeze it we named it sequence so
- 00:39:39 this sequence you're working in right
- 00:39:42 click right here and now press export
- 00:39:44 media like that and here you can now
- 00:39:47 specify the export settings now I will
- 00:39:50 again not talk about the details right
- 00:39:52 here the important thing is actually
- 00:39:53 that you change the format to h.264
- 00:39:57 that's the format we use and you can
- 00:40:00 leave the preset to match source high
- 00:40:02 bitrate this means it will export the
- 00:40:04 video with the preset or if the settings
- 00:40:07 you have in your sequence so in our case
- 00:40:09 1080p and 25 frames per second now
- 00:40:13 without diving into the details the only
- 00:40:16 thing you have to do right now is you
- 00:40:17 only have to press export if you want to
- 00:40:20 immediately render the video or
- 00:40:22 you press Q what we always do to start
- 00:40:24 the media encoder and with that to be
- 00:40:27 able to queue all the different videos
- 00:40:29 that we have let's have a look at that
- 00:40:31 how this works so I pressed Q right now
- 00:40:33 now the media encoder starts as I said
- 00:40:36 in the beginning that's also an app that
- 00:40:38 we use takes a few seconds to load of
- 00:40:40 course and with that we can now see that
- 00:40:42 our video is right here with our
- 00:40:45 settings that we made we cannot specify
- 00:40:47 a folder where it should be render to
- 00:40:49 and if you now press play well then it
- 00:40:52 will take a few well seconds to hours
- 00:40:54 depending on the quality and the size of
- 00:40:57 your video and with that you are done
- 00:40:59 with cutting editing and rendering your
- 00:41:03 video and that's it actually this is the
- 00:41:07 basic approach that we follow when we
- 00:41:09 create our videos now as I said in the
- 00:41:11 beginning this is how we do it in the
- 00:41:13 Creative Cloud and there are lots of
- 00:41:15 more functions and things you can do in
- 00:41:18 there which I couldn't cover in this
- 00:41:19 video however I hope this gave you a
- 00:41:22 good and quick introduction into the
- 00:41:24 basic knowledge that you need to cut and
- 00:41:26 edit your videos and maybe this helps
- 00:41:27 you also in your own videos so as always
- 00:41:31 thanks a lot for watching hope to see
- 00:41:33 you in the next videos and bye
